Just was strange because the shop I was at the guy pulled open the tank lid and they all came up and started to bite his fingers. I had read up alot on Oscars and thought basically what you had said so I was a bit surprised.
I have two JD's at the moment both about 2inches. So, want to get other cichlids that can hold up against them but they are my loves so don't want them to get eaten either.
New tank I'm getting tomorrow is about 75g. so figure they should be alright I think.
lol! They were 'biting his fingers' like that because that's what Oscars do thinking you've got food. Another reason it's so easy to train them to eat from your hand. If they bit him, they didn't mean to. Their aim isn't very good when they're babies
If you were planning on putting an Oscar and both the JD's in a 75 gal then I don't think that's enough room. If the Dempsey's are a breeding pair the Oscar's in trouble and if all are males or females someone's in trouble. Regular Demspey's (not Electric Blues) get pretty big, I think 2 JD's and some Barbs &/or a Syno cat would fill the tank out fine. (I need to go back and re-read this thread, not sure which thread this is).
