Thats my favorite way to catch plecos. I like to find them in the burrow and grab hold of the body though, less chance of them getting away or of injuring the fish. I once caught a pair simultainiously... one in each hand. I had the hardest time getting back up with a fish in each hand LOL

sorry to say, all was lost. It was just too cold for too long. Water temp was 50F for about a week.

Sorry to hear that esp a nice pleco that age.

I saw on news that even fish farms who have natural ponds fairly deep even took massive losses.
 
I used to see some massive ones in Lake Adair near downtown Orlando. They were pretty skittish and wouldnt let me get very close at all. Maybe because someone had been grabbing them by the tail? lol
