Tarantulas are not poisonous they are venomous, just thought that I would clear that up first. Second no one has ever died from a tarantula bite but some of the species you might wish you would've died because you can be in a lot of pain. There are some species of spiders that people have died from. Just remeber all tarantulas are spiders but all spiders are not tarantulas.
A Grammostola Rosea (rose hair) if bitten would be no worse then a bee sting. Mainly the puncture wound itself would hurt.
It is not that unusually that it gave you a treat display. A lot of tarantulas will defend their home. Once you get them out of the enclosure they usually will be okay. The trick is to use a pencil or paint brush and lightly touch it's back legs and as it moves forward and starts to come out of the cage put you hand there so it can go out on to your hand. Just keep in the back of your mine that you will never tame these creatures, they will just tolerate you. Also if you fear them they will sense it as well.
It is also possible that it is getting ready to molt and their attitudes change. Another reason if you are not sure the sex, is that it is a mature male. Sometimes they can get a little ornery are they mature.
Don't give up handling it. If you do,they won't care and you can still enjoy it anyways. Think about it as a look don't touch animal. The fish really hate it when I take them out to play with and they hate when I pet them too.
