how big is the tank you will be using? I am partial to orange spotted sunfish. I can collect them locally, stay somewhat compact, and of course are gorgeous. I added them to my small koi pond this summer and have plans on doing a native tank featuring them later in the year.

Walleye and Sauger are nocturnal and won't do anything in your tank.
I suggest sunfish. I just got quite a few today. They're all really small, less than an inch, but they're entertaining already and i can't wait to grow them out.
Everywhere I've looked that ships natives ships usps priority. Mine shipped Saturday from Ohio and got here today. The highs have been around 34 and the lows in the single digits. All my fish arrived alive and healthy. They were double bagged and in a styrofoam container with no heating pad and their water temp was ~58.
I found a site by the name of Jones Hatchery, which seems very reputable. They have a lot of game fish but has anyone ever bought off of them? I can't get a hold of them so all I can really do is look. They even have paddlefish for sale which is crazy. Any info on this site? Thanks.
