Hi guys a possible oppurtunity has arisen for me to get hold of 1 of these awsome fish. I have a 9.5 foot aquarium 3' wide 2.5' deep to house them in until they outgrow it.

But I would like to house them with some other fish preferably from the same native waters as these. Just wondering if anyone can provide me with a list including catfish. When they get to big for the aquarium I'd consider building an outdoor tank. I realise they are a cold water species so hence would like to sort out compatability for the aquarium and pond. I know most of you will say I won't be able to house anything with them but I still want to give it a shot.

List anything even if its as small as a tetra.

Cheers

you could grow out some blue orb or koi might hold there own .stergeons are cool also

or natives you could try rudd or perch . they might be ok if you got them breeding in the pond

thanks frazertheking but what exactly are rudd an what kind of perch? Don't forget Im in Australia and northern pike are vertually unheard of here.

ih sorry there is a place near me called perth so i missed the Australia part lol . i was thinking of british natives .
is that what you where looking for ??

well anything that northern pike share waters with where ever its found, I know I'm probably limited since its a cold water fish and what its found with and whats available over here at LFS are 2 different things but if I can get a list I can suss it out. I'd just like to be able to keep it to a theme if I can. If not than I'll try find other fish species that do ok in colder temps

also you can find alot on what the fish eat ,where they live ect on british fishing websites

Thanks heaps frasertheking :) had a look at those links but haven't seen any of those UK natives for sale over here. I read that they can be found in warmer waters so probably go with a wide variety of tropical fish such as cichlids. Just wanted to be able to colour the tank up a bit and make it interesting if possible.

if its warm enough way not just put live bearers and any fst breeding fish , get them going for a month or 2 then the pike will have free pickings

Yeh well I'm trying to breed my convicts to use as feeders. And I've got plenty of goldfish. Just hate to use a 3m tank and only house 1 or 2 fish no matter how cool they are
