Northern Snakeheads Found in Delaware Pond

Noone seems to care about millions of feral cats that defaecate everywhere and eat native animals like birds. Or anything that's cute and furry for that matter.

+1
I read an article some where saying that cats were drastically effecting a lot of birds and rodents. Lately been having a problem with a neighbors cat that lives outside he likes to fish in my pond. And I don't think its fair for me to have to cover my pond due to the neighbors cat. Yet I can't harm the cat lol.

And heres another thing that bothers me. Just because the Snakeheads/Asian Carp will be impossible to completely kill off, it does NOT mean we should stop trying. If anything, we should at least strive to control their populations. If we just forget about them, they will rapidly multiply. No doubt about it. Failure doesn't come from trying, it comes from lack of trying.

I agree 100% if your not part of the solution.....your part of the problem!

let's face it!! we live in a country that's far from being native!! hell we aren't even native!! We live in a country of double standards where it's ok to release millions of trout, cichla, etc. which are all NONNATIVE every year but it's illegal to own a carp, snakehead, stingray, etc.. whatever makes money is OK but, if it might harm the money making fisheries it's illegal!!

that's because of all the research lately that proven that us releasing Pike and Centrarchids in the West, carp all over the place, and Trout and Catfish in some areas of the east has proven harm local populations of native fish; just because weve already altered some ecosystems and extirpated or driven some fish and invertebrates into extinction dosent mean we should keep on doing it.

Money talks. What you think why the sportfish got introduced outside of their native range? That's why the snakehead become most hatred fish in United States because the people are afraid that the snakehead might destroying the bass fishery when the research suggests that snakehead pose no threat to the ecosystems and no solid evidence that snakeheads are hurting the "native" bass populations. The people are more concerned about the sportfish than tiny sunfish or darter or killifish species that brings little or no importance to the fishery business.

Ahhh yes but cats cannot harm bass or other sport fish. Also cats are fluffy which makes it alright that they're invasive

The chevron snakeheads have been in Hawaii for quite some time and haven't had a real noticeable affect on the ecosystem. Should they be there no but they certainly aren't the environment destroying super predators the media said they are

I believe the chevron snakeheads have been in Hawaii for 100 years. The chevron and bullseye snakehead don't get attention from the media or the public for many years till the first northern snakehead shows up in Crofton Pond and everyone just panicked.

You should either tell your neighbors to keep their cat inside or ask them to pay for the pond cover because that is just ridiculous. I am a big advocate for indoor cats. Outdoor cats have done arguably more damage to native wildlife than any other invasive.
