Northfin food

LMAO, feel free to contact the labs posted here as well as the FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine, & run your false positive theory by them. No one is stopping you from having an NMR done, or an IR graph to verify. Knock yourself out.

The only fair way to measure it would be to individually analyze the raw ingredients individually that NF uses.

Is this something that is possible? Unless they were obligated to disclose such information, I doubt they would. I know little about the pet food industry or chemistry related to it but to me it seems manufactures, at least fish food manufacturers, don't give out much extra info.

No, it's not possible, unless you were on site at the facility in question to gather the samples from their bulk raw ingredients pre manufacture - which for the most part in this case would be their fish meal, and krill meal.

BTW - they already disclosed this information. :)

NorthFin Premium Fish Foods does not use any preservatives or harmful chemicals to preserve its product line.

The combination of certain ingredients/vitamins, along with the drying process itself allows the foods to be naturally preserved.

How dare you dismiss a point just because it requires you to be a scientist over at NF. ahahahah

I would love nothing more than to have someone prove these labs wrong.

I understand the fact that northfin have been misleading about there use of this chemical, but would I be right in saying the test results don't mean alot on there own, they would need to be compared with all major brands

I honestly believe you do and that's why it's funny to me. Lots of people give you grief for trying to help with fish nutrition, call it bran favoritism or dismissing your claim for one illogical reason or another. Now that you've back pedaled on a food you generally praised for ostensible reasons and you get similar grief. People are hard to please. I can't help but act a bit facetious.

Dan, have you read this? https://www.fda.gov/AnimalVeterinary/Products/AnimalFoodFeeds/IngredientsAdditives/ucm541035.htm

"The maximum quantity of ethoxyquin “to be used and to remain in or on the treated article shall not exceed 150 parts per million (ppm).”

So if the lab results are accurate, and a company that says they do not use any preservatives, are found using 300+ ppm of ethoxyquin, which is more than twice the approved limit - why on earth would those results not mean a lot on their own?

Of course it would be nice to have complete transparency from all manufacturers, but at this point this isn't a comparison. I suspect that will be coming though.

I am not disagreeing with you, I think it's very bad practice for any company to deliberately try and mislead it's customers, puts doubt in your mind about everything they say. But for majority of us we don't know if the use of ethoxyquin is endemic of the ornamental fish food trade 300 ppm could be the lowest out of the main brands?
