not a brand war. Fx5 and fx6

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Always better to have 2 filters on one tank. If one fail, other one can sustain the load for time being until you replace the faulty one.

Well do you think a fx5 isn't enough filtration for a 125g. Provided the tank isn't extremely over stocked.
And if so then yeah Your out to lunch. Lots of people hate and have there own brand. But the fx5 is a great filter that can easily handle 125gallons.

I'm currently running an fx5 on my 150 ive been impressed for few years now works great , purchased the fx6 yesterday for my other tank its goin to be interesting to see if there's much difference between the two , besides the dials on top of fx6 and the new clips I can't see much change but ill give it a couple of weeks and see :D

Can you provide us with the wattage of each of the two filters since the OP has dropped the ball on obtaining this info. I guess the FX5 is 56 watts so just need the FX6.

I didn't drop any ball, waiting for next powerbill as he said he wanted to know how much I am charged in kilowatt hours, I figured anyone could search the watt for the fx6

Yep fx6 43watt , I do think the new dials are pointless though I know when to do w/c's and filter cleans and im guessing most others with filters this size will also

I run 2 Fluval FX5s on a 120g keeps the tank crystal clear! I would get the FX5 if you can find a new one for 250.00.
