Not another 'Guess what's in the bag?' thread.... lol

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So the lap is a jerk and bites at the ansorgii. Seems like the lap needs some time with croc to set him straight. Threw a couple massivore pellets and the fish had to check it out but they wouldnt eat it.

Yeah, yeah here are the pics, lol

Kind of looks like the head may get blocky when it displays the dark colors.

Whats your thoughts ?

There's was so much activity. I missed your question Jaws - If it's not premature to state. I just have a great feeling that the specimen that Toyin sent to DMD is going to turn out exquisitely. It's a prime ideal piece that if someone were to order a Faranah Lap. This type that arrived to DMD, Hao & mfker NID from 2013-2014. A Grade Stuff! Perhaps, this green variant Faranah Lap could use an added 'Guinea' to the label, or maybe not. Below is an older Faranah Lap post with his video. As DMD piece settles in. It's going to be a stunner! Hope u don't mind the link and video DMD.

last night I go in and drop some tilapia in the tank and take the dish back to the sink and come back and the ansorgii has a big belly and its all gone, lol. Did not think it was possible the food would be gone that quick espically since I had given him some chopped up silverside earlier in the evening. Super happy he is a good eater. The lap on the other had has not really touched anything from what I could see... maybe a little piece of tilapia the first day. Im sure its still settling in.

I did something a little different this time and started feeding first before the parasite treatments. Sometimes the meds really seem to throw off their eating. So today I began my round of Tetra Parasite Guard and I do three full treatments before the fish ever go into the main community tank. Not sure if I will drop them in right away after this or try and powerfeed and high volume water change the tank for a month or so and see if I can beef up the ansorgii. If it is a slow grower than I guess its not a big difference, but if it puts size on like my endli then it will have a better fighting chance with croc who still bites and picks on others.

Beautiful new pickups! And you actually got Toyin (Africanman) to respond to this thread. All these posts from this group is making me wanna purchase some bichirs again. Thx for sharing, please more pics and updates. The MFK bichir section is buzzing!

Thanks, yeah I was surprised Toyin responded but I had just got the fish from him. and he probably saw the post and was curious. His comment on head shape changing does have me intrigued... wondering if I will get a cool blockhead of a lap now. Anyway, getting bichirs again is a great idea, hope the next 'guess whats in the bag?' thread is yours!
