You certain? Never seen that name on a list from a reputable dealer b4 or heard of it.
Of course not! Not enough studies being done. Don't forget Toyin is selling all of these fish as Faranah Laps. :) I would save the "sp. Faranah" term for bichirs that don't look like lapradeis or typical faranah endli.

If the green muddled up shaded patterns go all the way to the tail end. Then I believe it's similar to mine.

If it doesn't and breaks to the middle of the body, then jaggedy vertical like barring begin at the middle body. Then it resembles more of what we traditionally see faranah laps have. Just my thoughts at this present time.

Ok. It was an opinion at this present time. Makes sense. True. Not much clarity on these faranah. More complicated than endli complex.

So, what are your opinions on the sp. Dabola or the 'dabola type' that are no longer labeled after 2014? Seems like the marketing label has disappeared. For both the brown type and the green that jurassic aquatics and Adc brought in.

They share similar feature to other Guinea Laps. That's another reason why I just consider them Faranah Laps.
Here are Ricky's Guinea Laps from Toyin.

I remember Toyin had Polypterus sp. Dabola and Polypterus sp. Faranah(Dabola type) on his list last year before he shut it down for a new website. I'm sure those two look very similar. It's just one was caught in Dabola and another was caught in Faranah. Do you have any picture of the "brown" type and "green" type?

When I ordered the poly I knew I wanted a lap and I thought that I was getting what Hao Hao posted as a "typical" Guinea lap.
This is what I expected

Getting the Faranah lap was fine since it was a wish list poly. Getting this instead was fine... Very happy with it
