what could cause a lizard to have a hard time digesting food? The crickets my sav is eating are coming out pretty much like a dried up shell. Temps are good, ground temp on the warm side is 100 with multiple areas for basking. what else could cause this.
what about water and humidity
and is your basking spot just 100 or is that the ambient warm side
ambient warm side should be 95-100 and hot spot/basking spot should be 130+
how much dirt does he have? he should have about a foot if hes just small and 2 feet if hes over 14"
so he can burrow to a nice humid place
humidity should be around 70 at the surface
100 is the ambient, size wise he is just a hatchling, unfortunately the terrarium he is in doesn't allow the whole cage to have that deep of substrate but he does have an area with lots of dirt to dig. and there is 2 water dishes, one to soak in and one under the heat to help with humidity
You don't need to start two threads when you have one that is exactly the same. Give people time to respond and be patient.
That being said, I know my tegu when he ate too much superworms he would reguritate the shell of the superworms and when he was younger he would do this also. He has since learned to chew his food so I haven't seen it much. How big is the sav and how big are the crix? The shells MIGHT be too much for him to digest so he regurgitates them. This is purely based on my experience though.
