eh, I know bristol is known for comedy but eh

if you don't keep the light on, it will never get use to light.
you are lucky that had one that eat frozen without much trouble, keep it well fed and it'll grow big soon :)
post some pics and feeding video if possible

I will try but dont want to scare him in the aclimatisation period. I have spent all day looking at pics, looks very similar to aquascapes gdrs

Not a fluke he found and ate 2 more pieces

Daylight comes and to the back he goes behind the plants, how long could this last, would love to see the activity he has at night in daylight.

that is really depends on the fish. no one can give you a certain answer.
some will be out in no time and some takes ages.
leave the light on a timer so it'll get use to it, once it's used to the new surrounding it should be out swimming in the open. of course it may go into hiding again when you walk up to the tank, in which case will have to wait until it gets use to you.

I mean the tank he was in at the store had no cover for him and very bright lights and he was a nasty SOB, finger chasing and facing off with me. Im surprised the change of tank causes such a reaction, my lights when full on are more but only running 2 of 4 for the first while to get him settled.

But the food thing is common with me, Ive got leaf fish to eat pellet in under a week. Pike livebearers eating flake. So i wasnt shocked when he ate it but it actually wasnt for him, I wasnt even trying.

It has taken my P about 3 weeks to go back to what he was like at my LFS. He is just now starting to chase my finger again! Give him time.... They are slow to comfort.

The previous one didnt even last 3wks lol
