How much do these uncommon cichlids cost on average? I am not spending over 10 bucks on a single fish but that's just me. That is mostly becuase I think I will kill the fish ( although I have had only one african death so far from bullying ).

Ps. Elongatus "Ussiya" is the lower golden fish, cant see the excellent blue markings on the face. The upper yellow striped is a Ps. Elongatus "Chailosi"

And the smallest cichlid 'Lamprologus' multifasciatus tang shelldweller

Just put my order in today for a wild caught (actually not yet caught) Exochochromis anagenys. I guess I'm just a hap guy. If I get this new hap I'll be a happy hap guy!
you know, we will need pictures after you get him!

i am sure no one is able to answer that question since even your common africans are all different prices in all the different locations and also the size of the fish varies the price.. and africans in general are pretty hardy fish.. but if you feel your nervous about their welfare you should stick with the ones you have until your more confident anyway.. sounds like your doing fine with only one fish lost..;)

I have paid anywhere from $15.00 - $70.00 for some of these fish. If I get the Exochochromis, he will be over $100.00. Note that he will be a wild-caught, adult male too. That is what drives up the price. It is all in what you want and how much having certain fish means to you. I tend to go only for certain fish that I have read about or studied. Some like the Caprichromis species are nice to me but unavailable. However, they are said to be plentiful in the Lake.

And Liz is right, many of these more interesting fish change hands at club auctions.I got my demasoni group for $2 at an auction, next time someone paid $40 for same # from same breeder, and it was still a bargain.
Hook up with a club,or attend one of thier annual auctions if its a long trip,if youve never been it will amaze you whats available. Its like being a kid in the candy store cubed lol:headbang2 :naughty:
