Thankyou.. no they are not that common.. i never see them!!

That's crazy. This store has 4 small tanks with full grown eye biters. 3 silver ones and a bluish one. Then they have a tank full of 1- 1.5 eye biters. Maybe someone traded them in? Are females silverish?

Thats how i get lucky sometimes, someone will trade in a fish for one reason or another and if i am lucky enough to be there.. i get it.because alot of the lfs here just do not have any interesting stock.

We just picked up this beautiful Red Empress over the weekend. Wonderful colors! In addition to the cichlids, we have about 12 different types of Synos now. A great community tank!

Cost - Rare aren't that much more expensive if you know where to look.

I also buy my fish young - watching them grow is most of the fun for me, then its getting them to spawn. Young fish are far more cheap too.

I've spent upwards of $20 a piece for wilds (won't do that again), but usually around $8 or so for F1's. F1's are what I like. Many times I can hand pick them and they are just as nice (sometimes better) than the wilds. I don't trust any fish stores around here, especially the big chain stores for fish. Lots of diseases and too little of selection. Private breeders are the way to go.

Nope. He is actually bigger now than when that pic was taken. I'd say they get 10 inches or a little more.
