I feed my dats once a week because they are not kept at my house. I got them at 2.5" back in march. They are 6" now. In the beginning I fed them shrimp stuffed with hikari koi staple. Then after I got them pounding on the shrimp I started feeding them freeze dried krill, arowana sticks, and massivore. Now they eat anything I put in the tank. I do 30% WC once a week. Then feed an hour after the water change. It might help to keep them in higher temp, well aerated, and LARGE tank.

Yep. I had mine for 6 months and its still very small. He eats a lot but seems grow slower than the IT

i dont understand how you cant have a few extra minutes, like cant you stop doing homework and then start again? Or hell drop food in while you read something! Haha small fish of any sort need daily food, good water quality, and a good oxygen supply. The combination of these factors has always proved to work for me, ive never kept dats but ive been considering it lately and have been doing my own hw on em but if you keep up with that you should have better growth even though they are slow growing, the growth rate of yours seems too slow from what ive heard. Also make sure the temp is good

If you have the few extra minutes to go make an account start a thread about your fish, then you should have time to feed properly.

I have a batch of 6 NTTS that grew from around 1'' to around 4'' pretty quickly (may till now). The key was as stated in many other posts; daily 30% wc, very small feedings 3 x a day using smelt at first then to krill. I think the key is to either have them in groups (be wary as they are known to chase each other and beat each other up if the tank is not setup properly) or to have them with teacher fish.

Best of luck and happy fish keeping.

I had a NTT that grew from 2" to 12" in two years. It took pellets from day one and wasfed once a day. Couple of times a week it got frozen prawn. You must get them on pellets if you want growth. Did 50% water changes weekly
