NTT?

Right now, I have a silver tiger as that was all I could find and only planned on having 1 dat. However, I found a 6" NTT for, i think $90. Is that an ok price? How big do they get and how do they rate on the datnoid rareness scale (i.e. what is the general order in the u.s. of datnoid availability)? I'm pretty sure it was a thin bar based on the pictures I've seen on this forum and the label said something like "thai tiger" (it's at a store in the sorta "ChinaTown", so they don't always translate everything into English correctly).
 
i read on here that they get to 16"...shoulda researched that question first, sorry
 
not sure how rare they are in your area but if you never see them for sale then they are rare.
as for price it seems pretty fair to me and as size goes they get to 14-16'' but you rarely see then at that size in the aquarium so more likely 12''+, they grow very slow though.
you also might want to add more datnoids in the mix too as 2 in one tank will probably fight a lot.

If the fish is worth $90 to YOU then get it. You arent getting ripped off, but they can be found cheaper (more expensive for that matter as well!).

I have a large NTT that is approaching 13". I was told that the former owner got it from 4" to 12" in just two years. I have no way to validate that claim, but this is the fastest growing/healing dat Ive owned.
 
thats a petty good deal on the dat.i payed 40 on a 4 inch.about the growth i bought a indo the size of a dime a year ago and now its about 7".i think its just how you feed them and water changes.i feed my guys 3 to 4 times a day and once a week water changes so the can grow.in have 5 indo 1 ntt and 2 wide bars. good luck with the dat.
 
it's very rare that I see any dats, so it would probably be the AT and the NTT for a while. if they fight, i will just put one of them in another tank. i have the AT in w/ a front and 2 jags and the one jag is the only one that will chase any of them, but it might be different w/ another dat. if i can come up with the money before it's gone, i'll get it. it's been there for a while, i think. thanks, everyone. i paid $55 for my 6" AT, so the NTT should be worth what they're asking.
 
If you are looking for more Dats they had some IT's at Todds Tropical Fish. It's in the area where Havanna turns into Hampden. I got 2 from them and they had probably 4 or 5 left. Until I bought some they said they had had them for a couple months. I paid 22 a piece for them.

hmm, thanks. I was just at the other LFS right up the street (can't remember the name...brain fart) and didn't stop at Todd's. What size were they?

How large do IT's get? Is 18" right?
