NTT?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They were maybe 1.5" to 2" about an inch tall. The good thing was is they already ate frozen food so I didn't have to try to train them. They called them gold tigers but they were IT's. They actually had them in the Brackish section. I got mine a little over a month ago so they may still have some and they may be bigger.

Was it Fish Palace you stopped at. I saw a thing on Craigslist that they were selling that place.

I'll have to stop by there sometime this week.

Yes, fish palace. They are leasing it or whatever, but still have some good stock in there. They have some dats in the brackish tank there, too, but I think they were AT's (didn't looks at them very well).

I may have to stop at fish palace. I'd like to see some different type of Dat other then in pics.

I'm planning on going to Todd's and probably Fish Palace on Saturday.

I picked up the datnoid from Mr. Aqua that I started this thread about. I'm thinking it's not an NTT. I can't really tell from the pics in the ID thread. It looks like a hybrid to me, lol. It was labeled as a Thai Tiger at the store, though. It's actually a little bigger than I thought. LMK what you think. The partial bar is what really throws me off, especially since I am new to datnoids.

I'm not an expert either...so I'm not much help. He looks beautiful regardless. Good pick up!!!

Where is Mr.Aqua's?

Thanks. It is at 2200 W. Alameda in the shopping center w/ mostly Asian-run businesses. I heard they are going to sell the store, but I'm not sure if it's true or not. It was the last dat they had left. I don't think they have any new fish in from the first time I was there (like last December!)

That is definitely a Thin Bar.
OK, thanks! :)

The more I looked at the pictures, the more I thought it was an NTT again. No aggression problems between the NTT and the AT so far :D They both square off with the one jag, but both stand their ground and haven't suffered any wounds or anything. The other jag doesn't bother anyone. I'm going to get rid of the more aggressive jag pretty soon so it doesn't outgrow the dats and start actually visciously attacking them. Hopefully, I'll be getting a small IT this weekend to grow out.

What are the AT's? I still don't know all the abbreviations. Do you know about how big the one's at fish palace are. If they are not IT's I may go pick one up. Are the AT"s brackish? I know I've heard they can all live in freshwater but just curious.

They're the easiest ones to tell (besides, maybe, NGT). They are the silver ones (silver dat, not to be confused with Silver Tiger, ST) with the 2 dots instead of a bar at the rear of the caudal peduncle. I'm not sure what ones they are at F-P. I think they are AT's since they were in a brackish tank, but mine has been fine in a FW tank, you will just have to acclimate it a lot longer since it came from a brackish tank. There's one other brackish sp., but I can't remember off the top of my head. I didn't really look at them well. I think they were about 2, maybe 3 inches. The brackish tank is the one that faces the desk.

edit: NGT are the other "brackish" ones. they are VERY easy to tell apart from the silver dat (a.k.a. american tiger or AT)
