Is there any way (without adversely affecting the health of the fish) to reduce the size of a nuchal hump? My male nic's keeps growing and I personally hate the look of them. Looks like someone hit him over the head with a crowbar. If you know of a way to help make it shrink without affecting his health, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

I know how you feel i cant stand the look of them either.

remove any competing fish maybe? ..females he might want to mate with and males he has to show of to..to seem better or bigger?.

That is the only thing i can think of

Seriously?
...how is that helping him with his question?....

It's not helping with the question because I think it's a silly question. You are keeping a fish that naturally gets a nuchal hump and then complaining when the fish gets a nuchal hump? Just learn to enjoy what nature gives you, not what you personally find aesthetically pleasing to your eye. Or just keep different fish...

....so don't respond to questions your not going to help with "Seriously?" helps no one

The goal of a message board is to discuss, whether you personally deem something helpful or post worthy is completely irrelevant.

I know a good plastic surgeon.....move that hump fat into the biggest set of fish lips you ever saw!

I have heard there are dietary changes that can increase the size of a nuchal hump, therefore I don't think it was stupid to ask if there are ways to decrease it without harming the fish. I won't deprive him of something he needs or anything like that.

Since when is asking a question complaining? And I don't keep fish that are known to get large nuchal humps, afaik nics don't tend to get large ones.
