As for the hognose I have thought about that too. They are good starts for those who want to keep venomous snakes ...

Hognose are not venomous

They are slightly venomous but nothing to worry about, rear-fanged, mostly causes swelling, some pain, but that is if it bits which they rarely do, and even then they need to chew to properly inject the venom

Wow I totally didnt know that burms and rectics were illegal in ny. Thanks for the heads up before I bought one. I think ill be staying with a crap load of different leo morphs, a couple different BCI morphs, and im actually thinking maybe either some white lip pythons or some womas. I love womas patterns.

As for the hognose I have thought about that too. They are good starts for those who want to keep venomous snakes which someday I will live where I can have a pair of eyelash vipers and a couple gaboon vipers.

If Burms were legal I would be even more tempted to buy one. I just need to wait a while longer to get mine :D

Well I had talked to some people who keep venomous snakes and they told me they started out with hognose snakes for the fact that they were not "venomous", but the fact that they have saliva that can cause pain and irritation would lead you to leave the snake alone and not try to handle it all the time. Since with venomous reptiles you can't get all snuggled up with it like you could a ball python.

I think I am going to do the following

Get 1.1 BCI (1.0 Coral Sunglow, 0.1 Sunglow)
Get 5.5 Leos (of various morphs)
Get 2.2 Western Hognose (1.1 Albino, 1.1 Het for albino, or 1.1 Anery, so I can make some snows..as AlbinoxAnery is a snow correct?)
Get 1.1 Ball Pythons (1.1 Pastel to create Super Pastel)
Get 1.1 Womas
and lastly
2.2 Timor Monitors

I will not be buying all these at once, I'm just going to start with a few leos, 1.1 Timors, and a pair of hognose.

How does that sound?

I am also leaning towards maybe some Rough Green Snakes as a display cage, not to breed. They are pretty cool too.

1 - Sunglows aren't going to do much for you, by the time you get up and running, they'll be $100 each, and the market will be in the dump.......

2 - Unless you've been established with Leopards, your going to hate the Leopard market......

3 - Hognose aren't a bad investment, but the competition is growing......

4 - You can buy a Super Pastel for $200-$300 now.......No sense in buying Pastels to produce Supers when Supers are abundant in the market........

5 - Womas aren't a bad investment, however the market is very selective in what they buy........Nobody wants ugly Womas......

6 - Timor Monitors? If you keep them right, you'll end up with empty cage syndrome in a week or two......
