Not sure if hunting will have the desired effect. If they hire pros to do it then maybe but if the use locals probably not. The locals may well use this as an excuse to accidentally deal with the spotted owl problem stopping them from logging everything. Then there are the 10% of hunter who couldn't tell a deer from a bison and will just shot all owls. That would be the 10% that gives all shooting sports participants a bad name.
