Obscura refusing food still

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
when i had my obscura i put a whole whitebait/silverside into the filter current and he grabbed it right away,if that won't work then try tying a piece of cotton loosely onto the tail of the baitfish and jerking it around so it looks alive that does work as i have done it,i also found that obscura are really greedy and will take fish far to big for them which is not good

Great success! My obscura finally ate 2 live nightcrawlers that I threw in right before I left for school.

Now that I know he'll take Nightcrawlers,

Does anyone know if its possible to gutload nightcrawlers? I know it can be done with mealworms, but I'm just asking because I never heard of gutloaded nightcrawlers before.

Quick edit - Can i somehow gutload them with tilapia fillet pieces, hikari pellets, market shrimp, frozen beefheart, or frozen bloodworms?

Reason for this is because my channa barely accepted nightcrawlers and now I want to pump him with some nutrition. He refuses to eat the foods I named up above yet, so this is the only way as of now.

Nightcrawlers are great food without the need to try and get more nutritional value in them. If i was going to try it, i would just sprinkle some fish flakes on some vegetables and feed it to the worms. Glad its feeding, be easy from now on.;)

as long as the nighcrawlers eat the food you want ,part of the nutritinal value will be passed on to your fish so just try and see what they will eat , nightcrawlers should be pretty nutritinal anyway so they are a good start , now they have started eating again they will soon start taking other foods

Hey Tropheus, this may sound a bit strange but have you tried any invertebrates on your s/h? when i had my C ornatipinnis it used to love eating cockroaches (i breed them, not crawling round my house) just wondered if ever tried anything like crickets, mealworms etc?

yes mate , i feed a mixture of all sorts , main staple is prawns but they get meal worms , crickets , worms from the garden and things from the bait shop also , they love allsorts and that is the sort of things they would eat in the wild.

haha surprisingly my channa is able to eat them, since they're so squishy and all, i'm sure it compacts real nice in their stomachs, no space wasted.

How should I feed them?

I still have the nightcrawlers in that tub it comes in, and they're living on that soil/compost looking stuff. Do I just throw in the tilapia in there?
