Apprentices(construction), recruits(military), and interns.....I guess the newcomer for the fish hobby is called the, "newbie."There is, and always will be a steady stream of newbies....Just be grateful there is....From the looks of it, the fish hobby is only getting bigger....Once and a while it nice to know that there are O.G.'s(orignal groundsmen) voicing themselves....It shows to where the newbie could be at(mentally, emotionaly) in a few years down the road, lol....
Yes indeed...
There is no substitution for wisdom...

Geez there is some whingers around. Yes it gets abit annoying people telling your overstocked or whatever else your whinging about but thats your problem. If you dont like it fix the problem or stop going back to the thread again.
If they arent Pming you then stop crying and stop going back to the thread.
And maybe fix your tank and whatever you got hassled for and you wont get hassled anymore. Most of the flaming is directed at people who are waaaay overstocked and the idiots who know there overstocked but keep ignoring those responses hoping someone else will tell them its ok to keep there RTC in a 10 or whatever.
Those people deserve to be flamed.

nobody deserves to get flamed seeing as flaming is against the rules.
some people do deserve to be told the truth in a respectfull yet stern way, they may also deserve to be told this by more than one member in a respectfull way and aslong as it is warranted we (the staff) have no problems with this as its the whole point of our (MFK) being here.

now as guppy stated sometimes people just post without reading the full thread and just seem to jump on the flame bandwagon again this will not be tolerated.
the same goes for the thread starter we will not tolerate them giving abuse back and if they feel they are being treated unfairly then they can contact the staff and we can sort it out.

correct info is the reason our members come here whether it is giving it out or requesting it and learning, its what we are here for and not to act like a twat slagging people off and belittling people to look good.

High horses in general are overrated. My tanks are far too crowded for me to criticize anyone else about their stocking levels. :(

Here.... for something that really needs to stop being posted Over and over again in just about EVERY FRICKING GAR THREAD :
alligator_gar.jpg

Thank you for your concern about the size of the fish but they all do not get this big and Jethro here is getting to be an annoying sight.

....... If somebody says they have Tank A with Fish A + B, these people make it their business to inform the person that their tank will be overstocked in the near future. Guess what. THEY KNOW THAT!!!! If we have a certain fish, then I would assume that most of us would be aware of the size these fish get.....

(With out reading this whole thread, I'm going out on a limb)

The problem is that a lot of people DON'T know what they're getting into. With a wealth of misinformation and incorrect facts out there, often times seemingly "harsh" or "rude" members are just trying to avoid expensive mistakes down the road.

The gar pic is a great example. Alligator gar SHOULD get that big. If not, you've taken poor care of it.

These posts are going to get way too big for this thread. This thread will never hold all these posts. You guys better get a bigger thread, AND FAST!!!

Agreed that an Atractosteus spatula should come close to this Should it be a female and lived a good 35 years (Life-history strategy of Lepisosteidae: Implications for the conservation and management of alligator gar Ferrara, Allyse M 2001...Suttkus.. E.O.Wiley .ETC. Sorry if I'm pretentious or on a "High horse" by posting scientificly proven information)

but Short nosed or Florida gar do not get that big......And it seems to be every gar regardless of species is looked at as the "jethro Ali garfish" and this stupid pic has to be placed for some dumb reason in just about every gar thread to make some uninformed size point.

I understand the original gripe here on this alone. People that feel they need to comment when their comment is really pointless, ignorant or unproductive or it is just to parrot information or raise there post count. I personally find this annoying myself and it also makes my head spin as I and a few dedicated gar keepers are actually trying to put good accurate and useful husbandry info about gars out there. It does not help when Parrots are singing or distractions are causing confusion.

In short how hard is it to shut up if you do not actually know the answer or you really have no experiance or knowledge in the subject? It really is not hard...Just do not post and let those that can assist take over.
