This is a big deal where I live and I'm just curious as to whether people elsewhere know anything about it. Hundreds of people are camped out on wall street with thousands amassing during the day. Hundreds of arrests and all kinds of video of it all on YouTube, facebook, twitter, etc.
There are claims being made that the 'Occupy Movement' is spreading across the nation. I find this hard to believe so I've constructed a simple poll. Please refer to the forum rules while posting. I am not asking anyone to vent their political views so please don't. Just curious as to who has heard of OWS.

yup heard of it but it will accomplish little to nothing.

I've just heard of it because it was on the Yahoo home page. I don't really know anything about it though.
Same here,I caught a mention of it on the local news show.

A bunch of college kids are making ridiculous demands like forgiving all debt, especially their college debt. They want guaranteed wages even if they aren't working. All sorts of other socialist ideals, because the folks on Wall Street only care about themselves. I like the ideas, but when you listen to them, and what they are actually asking for, well let's just say don't expect much to happen here.

tl;dr it's just dissent, nothing to see.

Well, that's kinda why I posted. I've been down to wall street and there's a huge difference between what is really going on and what is on the news. This is definitely NOT just a bunch of hippies and liberals as I've seen reported on the news.
There is also a huge call to audit/reform the Federal Reserve Banking System, which gets NO press.
Check out the website if you want a more accurate perspective on the events going on in cities across the country and the issues that are being raised.

I can agree, their demands are too high and almost impossible to meet...

but with the OP permission. I don't want to highjack the thread but I planned on making one that included this issue and was going to title it "Is Occupy Wall Street the trigger?"

As we all know the Economy hasn't gotten any better, Countries around the world are going crazy with protest. Greece and Spain are in major hurt . Countries credits are being downgraded. Gold is shooting up while the dollar continues to fall. Big Business that got bailed out are starting to tank again as they gobbled up the bailout money already.

I'm not one to believe in Conspiracy theories but things are pointing more and more to to stuff like what those people at newamerica7 yell about.

Here's a link, but view at your own risk (he says it will offend some).

Disclaimer: Please remember keep to the political views out of it. It doesn't matter who's in charge or who was in charge. This is about us the people.

Edit: The funny thing about the website is in the end they ask for money if you want further updates(subscribe)

Also... when you go to close the site it will pop up and ask you if you are sure.. If you click the 'X" or hit cancel it leaves written information as it starts with a video.

Interesting link but a little long winded.

from my understanding when discussing the issue of this in my economic geo class it also has a lot to do with the economic system, how its working (or not working) and banking systems and a bunch of other stuff - not just what they "show" on the news. From my understanding the news is not really "covering the issue" they are trying "not to show it".... or not make a big deal out of it.

Tomorrow starting there is going to be a big protest here in Tampa with hundreds already expected to turn out, apparently its going to start tomorrow in a bunch of other cities as well.
