My next tank is going to be for a octopus. Now I have a reef tank so I'm familiar with the upkeep needed . Other than a tight lid do I have to practice the same upkeep. Do they also need a water change every week. Do I need a protein skimmer or will a simple canister filter work just fine and last but not least what should be the minimum tank size. Thanks for any help!

wow! could I've picked a more difficult species to pursue. well thank you for the tonmo site very helpful. Well I have completely given up on them yet

haha, theyre very hard to keep and live for about a year tops. some shorter some longer, thats a rule of thumb. Good luck, its expensive but how many people can say they have a cepholopod.

i caught a squid in mexico once. i kept it in a bucket for about two days.

Thats one of the only "pod" to not be held in captivity with success, per Tonmo.com

I have kept one for over 3 months now.

I have a 30 gallon cube with rock, a canister and a skimmer. Change 5 gallons a week and feed him daily. Personally I don't find the species I have hard to keep. I used to duct tape the thing to keep him from escaping, now it has no canopy and he has never tried. Extremely cool animal and I highly reccomend them.

Congrats, u should let the good people at tonmo.com know of your success..
