i have to say i completely disagree with you putting those flat heads into the aquarium life. these guys are monsters, reaching 120lbs +, and along with RTC, pima, paroon shark and a load of others, they just aren't for aquariums.
if you have a giant tank, then go ahead and get a flathead, i hope he lives up to his potential, but to have 1000 flatheads, say 200 make it all the way to 8" or so, 190 of those are gunna be stuck in a hell-like tank and not even reach close to their potential.
many fish should just be left in the wild for all but the largest of monster tanks......

I don't think you grasp who you are talkin to. Phil HAS the tanks...haha. Believe me, I've seen them. Definately not a problem in that area. Besides, most of them are gonna be goin to stock local ponds and the like...

There are a number of members, sporting giant tanks, that expressed an interest in getting these catfish. Several will be made available to our members. I have about 30,000 gallons to spread the fry out in. Like P-P mentioned, the majority of the fry will be released into multi-surface-acre farm ponds. And, a choice few, will be redistributed to my kitchen.
Also consider that, with every catfish caught during the short grabblin' season, a nest full of eggs is left to die. These eggs would have been left untended once the parent was caught to become a menu item.

well, i know a few people have the space, like that guy with the 50k tank, and johnptc. but i just don't want flatheads or blues to start up like rtc or tsn's. if you are just putting these in ponds, make sure they have no contact at all with any other fish, which could be pretty hard with you, but you don't want to introduce aquarium diseases into that even though it is a pond.

The ponds I'm hatching these, and the blue cats, for are man-made farm ponds. They're presently stocked (for the last several years) with smaller species of hatchery-raised fish. These cats are destined to be the apex predators in these farm ponds. Diseases these cats may become exposed to have been exposed to the existing pond populations already.
