hmm that does sound pretty cool, i havent seen any of them at any of the pet shops i have around here tho. i was honsetly thinkin bout getting 1 senegal bichir

so I don't know much about bichirs and eels and whatnot, but how come I can't keep a 12" cichlid in a 12" wide tank, but you guys can keep multiple 12" oddballs in a 12" tank? Don't they need to turn around?

eels are a lot more flexible than cichlids and are also usually more docile than cichlids

There are a couple differences.. The main being that bichirs and eels are much more limber and require a lot less space to turn around. They are also fairly inactive compared to cichlids which constantly swim around.

I've also yet to see a peacock eel or senegal bichir at 12".. close on the bichir but not a full 12"

way to say the same thing i said

awesome thanks guys. I've thought about keeping these guys before, but didn't want to devote what i thought was a sufficiently large tank just to some chill oddballs. Cool...learn something new everyday.
