Blind cave tetras are unique as they have no eyes =DALtough they only get to 9 cm.

what are the dimensions of your tank?
bkuz it shud be wide enough for an abk
they are really sweet, and although they are supposed to be predtatory mine wont eat my .75 inch long florida flagfish, or my 1 inch long glolite tetras
so i would say danios for the top
but... if you want an insane active hungry fish
golden wonder killifish
the biggest pigs ive ever had
eat absolutely everything that can fit in their mouth
and they definitely bring some activity to a tank ;)

What i would do is get a senegal bichir, and the leopard Ct., they do not eat fish fins, i have one and its very responsive to what i do, fun to watch it eat, and only grows to around to 6 inches max, they are awesome fish! Especially when you buy a bag of crickets for them.:D

They dont eat fish fins because if you look at their mouths you will noticed they are not meant for biting or tearing, but to simply to engulf their prey like a bass or leaf fish.

would it be possible to keep an Axolotl with this setup? I doubt it considering i believe they need colder temperatures of water.

NO! First, they need colder temperatures, like you said. People even have trouble keeping them in warmer parts of the country & other parts of the world.

Also- You really shouldn't keep fish and axolotls together. The only fish recommended for keeping with axolotls are feeder guppies, and a lot of people even say not to keep those with them. Anything big/bold enough to not be eaten will end up picking on the axolotls. And you can NOT keep plecos with axolotls. I've always been told to not keep ANY species of pleco with axies.
I've seen how my bichirs eat, and how they destroy feeders just as well as my gar, and I wouldn't even think about putting any of my axies in a bichir tank.

I always recommend these, one of my all-time favorites, they were actually the fish that got me hooked onto serious fishkeeping. I like them because they are obviously odd in appearance and behavior, and also very hardy and easy to keep fishes.

way to say the same thing i said

:ROFL:C'mon look at the time stamp, are you really that desperate for recognition :screwy:

As far as firemouths, I've noticed as they get older they tend to become hermits to some degree, hiding in a cave and hanging out near the mid and bottom levels.

In a 30 gal.. I like the combo of Senegals with Ctenopoma (leaf fish) and they do not fin nip like previously stated. Senegals might be a little big for your tank though, plus when they do get bigger I'd be afraid for your little (4/5") pleco. Loaches are always a nice addition. I have housed multiple (4) peacock eels before and find they become quite active. Firemouths- depends on personality, I think they are quite peaceful (for a cichlid, but definitely would not house them with leaf fish- tried that, ended up separating them. Knifefish are great too, but alot of the available ones get big (Black Ghost), but the African Brown should be good.

I've had Ctenopoma that nip fins, so I think that varies on the individual fish, but some do nip fins
