Oddest fish kept together?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A Red Oscar, two Blue Gill and three SD's. The Blue Gill are temporary. They will be going into my pond once I get a cover for it so the coons don't get to them. I know they are a cold water fish and the others aren't so you don't have to tell me. They all get along just fine though. My Oscar hasn't tolerated any fish but the SD's so it is a bit suprising that she is so good with the Blue Gill.

lol this is a good one. I had a foot long channel cat I could not get rid of (I wanted my TSN to have more room ) and the channel was boring so I took him to a pet smart to give to them and they said the only tank that he would fit in was there 90 something gallon bow front. Then stocked with neon tetras ghost shrimp and zebra danios and gouramis. They asked me if he would be ok and I said " Yeah he should love it in there" And acclimated him and I left cracking up muahahaha I think he is probably the only fish in there now and I dropped it off Sunday.

I have some weird mixes as well
one tank converting to brackish has 2 gsp with a bunch of feeder guppy
other tank = fire eel, rope fish, leaf fish, corys, kribensis

That is definitely an odd couple!

i have a few weird tanks... one is clown knife with angels ...2nd is big black ghost with angels.. but the really special combination that surprised me because it worked so well... was two huge pacu with an african cichlid.. and after the accident and i lost the pacu's the same african cichlid lives with a huge red devil...for the past 2 yearsView attachment 383224.

Liz ~ that is what I call a mismatch LOL  I love the picture!

well when i had a 30 gallon it was housed to a endli bichir, senegal bichir, bgk, clown loach, peacock eel and a fire belly newt...way overstock but healthiest that they can be....the newt was a challenge though feeding it crickets in the tank was hard because the bichirs would eat them

I put about 8 bluegill in my father in laws pond and within 3 years, they have spawned so many times it is overwhelming.

well, XD i've kept mollies with clown fish in a saltwater tank, had to acclimate them pretty slowly. Also right now I'm keeping south american cichlids with africans.... in a 280

I have a senegal that is in my 55 gallon mbuna tank and all are doing well. he has plenty of small crevices under/between rocks to hide. he doesn't bother the cichlids and they really dont bug him. when i first got the tank there was spotted raphael mixed with the mbuna from the guy i bought the setup from:screwy:

gt o pike parrot and a little tiny CORY haha
