Off the grid, almost

Just curious if anyone can ID this spider? I'm thinking a wolf spider, but not sure.

Could be a wolf,whatever it is they are pretty widespread as it looks very much like some of the spiders I have seen here around my yard.

A quartet of interesting birds showed up in the yard today, at first glance looked like common grackles, but on closer exam, they had large almost parrot like beaks. Think they are a type of cuckoo called a Greater Ani.

Awesome bird! Like you said, looks like a grackle with a parrot beak....love evolution.

My last attempt at bat photography was pretty lame, but lucked out a little today in the back yard, after trying to pull a strangler fig vine out of a tree, rousting this little guy out, and onto a palm frond.

That's a pretty cool bird. Where do you live?

I live on Isla Taboga, a small island, about 10 miles off the Pacific coast of Panama, just south of the entrance to the Panama Canal.

There allot of construction in your area ? I thought i read somewhere that there is a major project to widen the canal
