Thats not bad of a trade. Lions not going anywhere, Roy Willaims not getting any younger. They got a first rd pick i beleive. Raiders got a 4th for R. Moss.ewurm;2311924; said:

The Lions traded away their top player for picks. A first round pick could be a Joe Thomas, or a Roy Williams, or it could be a bust like Troy Williamson (whom the Vikings got with the first rounder that they traded Moss for). I'd say trading a top notch player for a a few chances is questionable at best.
And, Roy Williams is 26 years old, he might have 10 good years left
Yes but they got like a 1st a 3rd and a 6 this year and a 7th next year , with all that they should find somebody right? even blind squirels find a nut once in awhile lol
It was a fantastic trade for the Lions. Here's why:
1. Roy is a free agent at the end of the year, and has expressed that he wants to leave.
2. To keep him we would have to franchise him, paying him like a top 5 receiver, when he is not that.
3. We have Calvin Johnson, when you draft a receiver at #2, your kind of committed to him, so now we would have to sign both of them, and would be spending like 40% of our cap on 2 players at the same posistion.
4. While it's true that Roy was one of our very goo talents, he happens to be one of the very few talents we have, so more draft picksis the only way to get talent at other much needed posistions.
5. Moss was traded for a 4th round pick.
6. I think we are now the only team with 2 first round picks, and with the first 2cd round pick, that means we could theoretically get 3 of the top 35 players in the draft.
7. And most importantly, this makes our GM spot more appealing to canidates because now they have the opportunity to come in and basically add 8-10 players of their choosing immediately to our team.

But they both lost to better teams, how can you be pissed at that........ Get use to it, the Pats are going to suck the rest of the year. Cassel might pull a good game or 2 out of his arse, but for the most part the team is done. With Cassel at the helm going 3 and out almost every possession our old defense is on the field 40 or so minutes of the game. That's a tuff thing to ask of any defense, other teams are going to put up some impressive numbers against us........ And the Sox, man you couldn't ask to be beat by a better team. Young players playing with heart, that's what all sports are suppose to be about. I'm a Sox fan and I wish the Ray's the best. If they do beat us another game and go to the series, I hope they can keep it together and beat the Phills. Anyway, just my 2 cents.
