This is a classic case of "Lion's Luck" as we like to call it.

A franchise QB becomes available in the year after you go 0-16 and obviously need a QB. We have the first pick where people are telling us to take Stafford, but no one is really sure if he's good or not. We have the most picks to offer for him and not only do you not get him, but he goes to another team, inside your division.

Culter will be a great QB as long as he can learn to keep the other teams out of his head.

You wouldn't take Cassel, who you could've gotten for a second round draft pick. Yet you would to trade mulitple first round picks for Cutler, who may be a head case. Though you wanted them to build the rest of the team first and get a QB later on down the road.

lol, I was waiting for you! :)

I only take this stance because I'm operating under the assumption that they are going to take Stafford at #1. So, if a QB is going to be aquired by this team, I would much rather get the one who is "proven".

And really, I'm not super mad that they didn't get Cutler because it is a lot to give up, but more that the team that did end up with him we play twice a year.

Former Vikings first round picks that didn't pan out:

Dimitrious Underwood: Tried to kill himself
Kenechi Udeze: Never became the pass rusher we had hoped, then developed leukemia. Trying to make a comeback
Erasmus James: Cut by the club.
Troy Williamson: A combine stud, he couldn't catch a cold and was cut.

Considering that even first round picks are hit and miss, I would definitely trade two #1 picks for Cutler. He passed for 4000 yards last year. We haven't had a 300 yard passer since....Daunte Culpepper? And I think Daunte is much more likely to pass for 300 yards than either of our Toilet Bowl quarterbacks. The Vikings are ready to win now. They just need a QB and a solid #2 receiver to vault them to the NFC championship. Instead, we got a guy from Iowa and our Pro bowl center left because of our moron coach.

i know how you feel about shady guys on your team, but plax is on the market
