Official NCAA Men's Basketball thread

This morning on ESPN, Sportscenter had Kansas listed as a 3 seed. After beating OK (even if it was a "the" Griffen-less OK), and perhaps beating MO on the first, they should be a no. 2.

Really??? Am I the only one on this thread. Spizz, Yoshii, brady, steve, angelo, where yah at????

LOL. Kansas shot 30% that game and still only lost by 1 or 2 points. Not exactly "stickin' it to 'em"...

And Mizzou went on a monster run to end the game, while Kansas gave up what should have been a for sure win. ;) The problem with Mizzou is they usually only come out to play one half. If they can come out to play two, they would be a much better team.

IMO, Mizzou is severely overrated. If 95% of the United States can only name one player on the team, they don't have a chance, i.e. Davidson last year (and this year for the most part), the Lakers four years ago when they didn't even make the playoffs, Mizzou this year...see a pattern???

That is the exact opinion I love to hear for them. It's always easier when you're the underdog. You don't have to be able to name anyone on the team, because that's exactly what they are, a team. What you don't realize is that rather than having one or two big name guys, they have an entire bench of evenly capable players. They actually play more guys than most teams do, giving them more energy, longer. That was evident in the Kansas game, when Mizzou ran past them the last 5 minutes or so. I do have my doubts putting them up with the big boys (Pitt, Uconn...), but I guarantee it will not be an easy win for any of them.

You beat me in with your post. Another member and myself tried an NCAA thread a couple weeks ago......we were the only two.

Pitt went down to Providence. How? Fouling out Blair. Get him out, and they are just like a Griffin-less Oklahoma. Who's going to #1 this week? :nilly:

You definetely make some good points, but I don't care how well rounded your team is, you have to have a few big name players. You have to have 2 guys that can step up in the clutch and make a huge shot, like Kobe, Lebron, etc. If you have only one guy, you get what OK got on Monday night, a loss. Granted it was a close game, but OK usually runs every play through Blake Griffin, Monday they were not able to do that, and they were lost on the offensive end of the court because no one was able to step up to take Griffin's place as the undesputed leader on the offensive end...

I never even saw the thread, but had a couple month hiatus where I was only on here 1-2 hours a week, compared to 2 hours a day now. Anyway, I hope the guys from the NBA thread join us...

:ROFL:From ESPN New's comments on the game it sounds like Pitt was completely mismanaged coaching-wise.

I have no idea on a no. 1, but it seems like there is a week like this every year right on the verge of league tournaments and March Madness where numberous top 10 seeds go down...

w/e lets go pitt! jamie dixon is a great coach despite tonight's loss. I rather lose now to providence than down the road in the tourny.

Plus I hate it when we have that number rank attached to us, the players all change. My buddy who manages the team (guy in the center of the them all during the pump up) says the moral of the locker room changes when they go the number 1 seed the first time around, said they were a lot more serious. I think it just makes them put a lot more pressure on themselves.

Tonight they choked, didnt play their game, was out of rhythm, come march look out...

lets go pitt. :headbang2

I agree with you. The guys that Mizzou have as clutch players is Leo Lyons and DeMarre Carroll. Carroll is a hardnosed workhorse, while Lyons is the talent. They are both seniors on an otherwise fr/so dominated team. As you pointed out, no one really knows them, but limited exposure doesn't help. They were expected to be nothing this year, so they have nothing for televised games. They just happened to play Kansas, who gets tv time.

As for the OK/KU game, Griffin missing was huge, but Kansas did somthing by getting TAYLOR Griffin in foul trouble, and putting him on the bench. They took Austin Johnson out of the game, too. He's the playmaker. Without him, all they had was Warren making shots. That obviously wasn't enough.

Dudey! Finally another on the wagon. I had forgotten all about your Pitt thread from a while back. I was partially right in my predictions. They did fall like I said, but they've bounced back and put a hurtin on some of the big boys, like Uconn. Blair flipping Thabeet over his back with that rebound was unforgettable.
