I posted a reply the other day but it got caught up with this doggone phone posting in triplicate but anyhow we call those muscle spasms "getting a Charley Horese"...no idea how that name came about but it has been in use in this town for as long as I can recall.I get them about once a month and as was said previously it usually goes away pretty quickly if I can press my foot against the eall or headboard or get to my feet and stand firmly on the floor.

I always thought a Charlie Horse was when you you got hit on a muscle, but yeah looking it up thats what it is. I'm going to try a couple of these techniques, I don't want another one.

I usually get them in bed at some point while I am moving around but a few months ago I got a pretty bad attack just as I walking down the stairs. It felt as if a demon had reached up and ripped out my calf muscle.I was limping for the rest of the day.

Yeah! That's what I'm getting, limp and all!

I take magnesium pills (500-750mg). Takes about an hour or two but the cramping goes away for awhile.

Wife recently got me into taking them too. She said it can help with nerve issues
