Add that to the high initial cost of purchase. The likely hood is you will need a gas powered vehicle as well for long trips. The big kicker will be when the batteries need to be replaced some years later, might be in the thousands??

teslas go about 265 miles per charge and their is lots of charging stations now. also they have Regenerative braking. so if you're going down hill it can be way more

its good that people get tax rebates, it just ecourages people to drive electric cars.

battery cars are a smoke screen, takes electricity to charge those cars, if every one was driving one the stress on the grid would be very heavy. and were that power come from? coal, oil and nuclear. solar power can not handle that demand.

as for end of world for humanity? more than likes a major galaxy event. whether a comet or meteorite.
