Hello; I have been following this but do not know the details of the training. I do know from my own training the liability for mistakes when you carry is the same for everyone even the police in KY and TN. I figure this will be true for trained teachers as well. While I hope those who oppose allowing teachers to carry do not get to make the training so tough that too few will sign up, there will need to be adequate tests to weed out some who do not have the stuff.
Not sure why the training will need to be more rigorous than police training as that is likely a pretty good standard. The training should not need to be as extensive as in all areas of law enforcement. More tailored to specific environments such as a school campus, sporting events and bus drivers.
I have been out of a classroom since 2004 so do not know how or if things have gotten better on a school campus but it was too porous back then. I guess there are many notions about what to expect from armed teachers.
We used to be strictly responsible for the set of students directly under our supervision at any particular period. I was not to leave my second period class alone for example and go to some other part of the school. So under the older rules I would have to hunker down with my assigned group of students. During a planning period I could be free to look out for any area of the school I happened to be in.

Before getting too far into the weeds and violate site rules let me say a population of teachers can be as diverse as any other. Some will be very well suited to carry and others not so much. But basically I like the idea of teachers having the option. One thing seems sure soon in Florida is a shooter will have to figure not all in a school will be unarmed targets. Here in my area of TN not all homes have arms but enough do so a thief has to give that some serious thought. May be the same soon for schools.

Had the option been available back when I was teaching in public schools I would likely have tried to qualify.
I remember we had a lengthy debate about this but im coming around to the idea. Especially like the idea of having them act almost like air Marshalls. From what i heard theres a possibility of it not being public (amongst the kids) who is carrying. Possibly only the school administrators will know. The parents will know that the school opted into the program but not which teachers are armed. At least thats what i jeard on the news.

I like this governor hes thinking outside the box. He was also looking into which schools bury incidents under the rug that could lead to something like this happening and if the school or administrators can be held liable for it. I like this idea. I see allot of this crap at my kids school.

Like them banning Mother's Day?
Smfh seriously ridiculous crap man. Kids couldnt write mothers day cards instead had to be worded as appreciation to.... anyone wtf

What will they do if a kid defies the edict and writes it anyhow, suspend him?
Things are so far out of hand I don't see how we can even get them back to normal.

What?! What’s wrong with Mother’s Day? Who are we offending now?
The stuff that the people who run the schools come up with these days is outrageous.

I’d say. I can’t imagine what could be offensive about Mother’s Day. It’s in no way religious, and every single living person has a mother. So......?

I'd imagine that some members of some group must be butt hurt about it.
