The character is an ancient cosmic evil which preys upon the children of Derry, Maine, roughly every 27 years, using a variety of powers that include the ability to shapeshift, manipulate, and go unnoticed by adults. During the course of the story, it primarily appears in the form of Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

the first one made was real close to the books till they faced him the second time and was a big mutant spider. bah. I was disappointed.

Yeah, I saw part of the movie when it came out in the 80's. My kids were only about 7 and 9 so I did not let them watch it.

there was no real description other than the lamps that sent you comatose if you stared into them. meaning do not look at it.
