late last night, the top hose on my 180G's eheim2262 managed to pop off while I was draining for a big wc. like a geiser.
Bam, To my knees in growing puddle, cramming my thumb onto canister exit to cork the shooting stream, reaching over to kill dripping wet power plugs with other hand. fumble fumble fumble.
thank God for wet vacc.
husband slept right through all the racket.
what is it with men?

I don't know why that hose was pop-off-able. everything seemed tight.
You're pretty darn lucky to have been right there, that could have been a major disaster! I would go buy a couple of hose clamps ASAP.

Barbara, there is a sort of screw to keep the hose in place in the filter...

Has happened to us all :(:)

yep I knew was lucky to be right there, in the midst of causing another late night disaster. and saving our whole home from it.
some morning my husband is gonna walk to the coffee pot and not even see my corpse lying next to the kitchen table, clutching some fish-related electrical wet thing...leaf blower sounds raging around his feet, he will step over it, go shower, come home from work and mumble (while fixing himself a sandwich) that I work harder for those dam fish than I do for him.
:-o

it was the output hose directly on top of canister, that goes to the spray bar.

Lol. Is grandpa in trouble?
heck no. I haven't even told him what I managed to pull off yet, just saying he could compete with bears for deep REM sleep.
I never even bothered to cry out for assistance.

I wonder if the 2yr old g-grandson got under there & loosened it. he is very mechanically inclined.
