Why do motorcycle riders feel the need to rev the engine a few times before shutting them off? Isn't this about as useless as doing it for a car? And lastly, why would you feel the need to do it after midnight in your driveway.
It depends if its a old bike. I had a really old kickstart tricycle that wouldn't start unless I did that. It's only purpose is to keep the fuel line primed for the next start. Some old bikes also sometimes need to pop the clutch to start the bike witch priming would also help.

I could buy that if it was at the end of the day or an old bike. Him and his buddies either take turns taking quick joy rides for an hour or so or make some kind of meet ups only on Saturday night after 11pm and do it on each return. Either doing something he's not supposed be, I'm hoping so, or he's just continuing his streak as the neighborhood nozzle.

Maybe it's some kind of habit for them. Like to say they made it home safely. The way you describe it ,it sounds like street racing but who knows. When I lived in Florida I would go on midnight rides to a lot of far places just to ride

Again, I could get it if that were the case but we're talking about 10-15 minute trips done several times in a row, one bike.
