I say thank you when someone do something for me even though I paid for the services, and people tend to reply in kind as a measure of courtesy. What's wrong with that?

I take pride in my work and always strive for perfection and in return I get paid per our contract, by thanking someone for what I have earned I'm implying I didn't completely earned my check. If I pay for a service and it simply meets expectations a thank you implies you didn't have confidence in those performing the task and are suprised nothing got screwed up.
