I went to the beach in Crete and it was terrible!! People everywhere lying on deck-chairs, people trying to sell you jetski rides, bars resorts right on the edge of the sand. Not my idea of fun sorry.

This is the beach I go to regularly, mostly for exercising the dogs, I actually tend to stay away over summer when it's hot and there's lots of people there! This is about 20 minutes from home, we live on the road leading there from town, 10 minutes to town and 20 to the beach. Not my pics sorry, but you get the idea...

Not sure if I could handle living hundreds of miles from the coast like so many do, having spent my entire life near it. I'm not a mad keen boatie, fisherman, swimmer or diver, but there's just something nice about it...

I live about 60 min to the beach but the water is about 50-55 degrees F year round...

Here people seldom say they're going to the beach, for some reason people usually say that they are going to the "coast". When I go to the ocean I usually never see the beach, I spend all my time crabbing in the bay.

I dug up a few old photos of the beach near Pacific City, Oregon. In one shot you can just barely see a surfer out there in the fifty-degree water.

You weirdos and your non beaches. Here a beach is the beach, you walk in hot sand 2 miles to the shore from your car, you set up your umbrella, cooler full of "soda" and you go in the blue clear water and little fishies nip your toes, you tan on a towel, get stung by a man o war, rip currents take you 5 miles to the left or right of your original spot and by the days end you go home exhausted from all youve been through. Now Thats going to the beach.

Lol you tell em Dan. I may be one of the few people who actually goes for the beach even though its too cold to enjoy. First thing I do is find an entry and kick off the shoes and run to the water. The only time I don't is when I'm already layered up already to go fishing/crabbing

You guys i understand. You have viking blood. You like cold and stormy beaches.

What is unbearable is the heat and all that tanned, oily, skin.
