Im trying...she is a trooper

no..no heat stroke she is having intestinal problems from getting in the compost..even after we fenced it off she dug in and was eating things..

she was playing ball last night...nothing seemed wrong.

X rays came out clean no blockage or rupture, but a partly collapsed lung that is due to her laying on that side before we found her (but she is breathing fine and it should fix its self) ..blood work shows infection ..she has an extreme case of food poisoning..and the lining of her stomach and intestines are sloughing off and bleeding ..she was bleeding out the back end when I picked her up to rush her to the vet...they said we will not know if she will pull thew for at least 3 days.

She is in the emergency vet for the night..and I will take her back to her vet in the morning...it up to her now to see if she pulls threw.

When I went back she tired to get up to get to me..so I ended up sitting on the floor with her head in my lap..she is so much better now than when we carried her in but she is no where near out of the woods....she even walked for me.

The vets are hopeful but worry about her kidney and liver with her age....its just a waiting game now.

She is a strong healthy girl...stubborn ...Im trying to not get my hopes up but the way she looked at me today when she was feeling a little better I can see the fight still in her.

Oh jeez. Well good luck with everything. Time to get a dumpster or something to keep that compost in.

I gave up on a large compost pile because the dogs kept busting into it.

Nice one, mines trying to die but won't commit.

are you keeping it inside?...they do best outside and need to winter over and go dormant or they die ( they are native to North Carolina ) also keep it soaking wet all the time.

Just picked it up Friday. Ate it's first meal this morning.

Mines been on inside on the kitchen window for a year. Didn't know about dormancy until today, still not sure how to achieve dormancy but will move outside until the fall.

when it gets cold all the leaves will die and fall off the plant will go dormant and will grow back in the spring. If it tried to flower snip the flower off..the plant will die if its it to small when it tired to go to seed...and it takes forever to sprout them from seeds.

I'm in west central Florida, cold is a relative term.
