I thought of ignoring him but sometimes he's entertaining at times.

I was joking about the remote and,since pickup was today the tv most likely was to be thrown away so that pretty much rules out skjl47's theories lol.

Hello; OK I buy that. How about the TV was in a room during an exorcism and the evil spirit was somehow lodged in the TV. The spirit being trapped until some tunes into a soccer game?

Reminds me of the horror film Hellraiser in which the sadistic demons known as cenobites are trapped inside of a puzzle box until some fool happens along,plays with and opens the box and releases them.

great series until part 5 or so, then they seemed like they just ran out of ideas

Check out Hellraiser Revelations on Netflix.It's actually pretty good despite the fact that the guy who has played Pinhead in all the other installments is not in this one.
 
Scene:Warburg is sitting on a couch in front of a tv of mysterious origins,he gets up walks to the tv to change it to the football channel,he goes back to the couch,his neighbor comes in with some hotdogs to enjoy the game and a couple brewskis,the tv goes to static and Warburg cusses,a hellhound flies outta the screen and eats warborgs friend,Warburg manages to escape the house and drives away in his truck as more hellhounds flood out the tv screen......
