When building rods you can never have too much bench top space. This is the third and final time I have extended the work bench in the rod shop in the past 18 years (only reason it's the final is because I ran out of room to extend it more lol). Added 8ft more to the side L shape so now have 7'x12' of usable work top

Hello; I fish top water with fly rods. I would love to have the skill and space to build one. I do tie my own flies. I mostly fish topwater for brim in Norris lake now days. Been thiking of getting a 4 or 5 wt about 8 ft long as that would be a joy to catch a decent brim on. I like your setup.

I've done 12 hours shifts...and that's enough for me.

Until recently I worked 16 hours about every other day.

Screw that man that's insane! Many years ago when I was a much younger man I worked a job for a few months doing 12hr shifts 6 days/week. I only did that for about 4 months and that was even too much. I can't even imagine doing 16hr days.

Well,not much physical labor is involved so that helped make it doable.Things have drastically changed on the job to where it is no longer needed or possible.

I did 12 hr shifts on swing once. 12 on,12 off
1St for 4 days, then one or two days off. Then come back on 2nd then 3rd. On and on ad nausium. I never knew whether it was day or night. I’d wake up and have to leave the bedroom to see if it was light out. Job almost killed me!
Worst part was I was a perma-temp. Took it to get permanent full time job. Didn’t make it.
