The DMV situation in California is just insane.

Our local DMV recently reopened, but the place was closed up with police tape, after the federal government raided the California Department of motor vehicles for handing out thousands of commercial drivers licenses to illegal aliens.

The official sign on the door said they were closed for remodeling, but I didn’t see a lot of remodeling activity go on during the weeks it was closed.

Last year I mailed in my registration for the pick up truck five weeks early, & it’s due November 30. Even paying in October, I didn’t get my tags until 12 December. 47 days!

You must understand that voter registration is done through the department of motor vehicles, and they just automatically register everybody who selects it, whether they’re aliens or not. Or they did in 2024 folks. Flooding the rolls with illegal voters.

But that was before the federal government raided the California DMV.

I noticed the lines at the DMV are very short nowadays since it has reopened.

This year I didn’t mail my Tacoma registration until November 13 but I got the tags today on the 24th.

Just 11 days.

Clearly, now that the DMV has to perhaps follow the law, they’re having plenty of time to get legal things done in an honest fashion.

Hello; Interesting thing today. Cannot post with quotes from Ulu's post but was able to post in a different thread. EDIT- Can post if I leave out quote from ULu's post.

I don’t know whether you folks are tuned into the big dong swinging contest between Donald Trump and Gavin Newsom or not.

Trump is going to spend $400 million improving the White House, but not to be outdone, our governor is going to spend over $1 billion improving the California state house.

It’s a shame that he chose to do so in such a year where we have huge multi billion dollar budget shortfalls.

Anyhow grab your popcorn, because the ball is now in the president’s court.

Hello; A thing of interest assuming the talking heads of the press have it correct is the East wing renovation is being done with private monies and no taxpayer monies spent. I get a person may not get that portion of the news if they only watch the legacy media, but such is supposed to be the case.

How the billion dollars is derived in California I do not know. In fact, this is the first I am hearing of an expensive remodel f the California state house. Could be private monies as well but I do not know at all. I do get news about the state having a budget shortfall of many billions of dollars, so I do get your point. I also understand the frustration.

I went to HS with a fellow who turned out to be very taken with far-left ideas. In a discussion some years ago I was going on about deficit spending & the national debt woes. He explained to me about "modern monetary theory" the crux of which was the debt does not matter. He was very passionate about the fictions involved.

Hello; This one is a puzzle. Young woman who had baby sat the family kids before a lot was dog sitting the three dogs while the family was on a trip. So the dogs knew her. Likely well. I could figure she did nothing wrong but in truth do not know. That a responding deputy wound up shooting one of the dogs is telling.

Not sure how this will play out legally. Seems the dog owners did not do anything irresponsible.

Do three dogs form a pack mentality and with the owners (pack leaders) gone can this be a clue?

Hello; This is an add for ceramic balls. Called tumblers. I guess in machines which tumble machine parts to clean them up. Ant thoughts on if they will do as bio media? Back in the 1970's I used glass marbles in filters.

Hello; This story is about a wild coyote trying to take a small child. Luckly the child survived. Had to chuckle at the suggested method of warding off a coyote. The story called it to "haze" the coyote. Might work for an adult.
I was born into a time when most predators of size had been killed off or run away from human areas. Always figured it was a good idea to not have wolf packs around. Nor bears. Nor pumas. Now even coyotes. Back in my youth did not know of any coyotes in my area. Now they are around.

I even understand the "guilt" many folks feel about the way humans have treated nature over time. It is not that coyotes, bears or wolves are doing anything "wrong". We were prey over millennia. Then we became the deadliest critter around and they learned to avoid us. Lately tho the trend is to reintroduce the predators into human neighborhoods. Guess it works pretty good for the bleeding hearts living in a city and only experiencing nature on TV.

From the aerial photos it looks like it will increase the size of our capitol by about four times.

This project was actually approved eight years ago at a cost of about $500,000.

But as of last year the cost had doubled and this year there is no new estimate released. This was all funded by taxpayers money, and it was probably all necessary too.

There were lots of delays and overruns and they’re blaming things like environmentalist interference.

Hello; looks like the "woke" stuff is not gone after all. I likely will never stop saying fireman even in the age of women in the jobs. By the way I found out why firemen wear red suspenders.
