From the aerial photos it looks like it will increase the size of our capitol by about four times.

This project was actually approved eight years ago at a cost of about $500,000.

But as of last year the cost had doubled and this year there is no new estimate released. This was all funded by taxpayers money, and it was probably all necessary too.

There were lots of delays and overruns and they’re blaming things like environmentalist interference.

That's a new one, isn't it? "Environmentalist interference"?

Maybe they felt that "supply chain issues" had pretty much run its course and needed to be replaced with something more vague and difficult-to-question.

Ulu , I must ask: is your post regarding the expansion of your state capitol building a true story, or is it satire?

I could do some googling, but in this case I thought I'd do the standard MFK "feed the baby bird" routine and just ask to be spoonfed the info. This is because I don't really care enough to bother checking; not only am I Canadian, but I'm not very political; I always vote, but almost always consider that to be making an attempt to choose the least of the various evils presented to me. I don't trust any of 'em, and I am dreadfully fed up with hearing about American politics as a result of listening to it practically non-stop throughout my waking in-home hours thanks to my wife. Her obsession with the politics in your country borders on pathological; she follows the Midas Touch network and their ilk with a zeal that is frightening. For the first time in the decades we have been together, we voted differently from one another in the last election up here. At least I follow Canadian politics enough to know more or less what's going on. She barely knows the name of our current Prime Minister...but she can rattle off the name of every important member of the US administration without batting an eye.

So when I read your post about that capitol expansion, I foolishly commented on it to her. She reared up like a female Liberal grizzly bear protecting its constituents...er, sorry, its cubs...and squawked "No! No!!! That's not true! Newsom is just mocking Trump! That's a picture of the White House in Washington! Don't believe a word of that nonsense!"

By this time I had the tranquilizer dart loaded into the chamber...I have learned to keep the gear handy...and a well-placed shot had her settle back into her IKEA lounger and mumble something about MAGA and ICE before she became quiescent again. I cautiously slipped out of the room and down into the basement with the fish.

So, what's the deal? Is the California state capitol being turned into a Democratic holiday resort? Will there be rides? A petting zoo? Are the concessions licenced to sell alcohol? If I take my wife...and then leave her there...will they mail her back?

I gots to know!
