Hello; Yes it makes sense that those in a position to write the laws/bills embracing various social programs are not actually incompetent. That the loopholes are not always mistakes with regard to the wording of the documents. That the feel-good program the bill is named about may be the front door part to garner popular support.
Never have thought the ones who appear so very dumb may in fact be simply acting dumb. That they do not want us to think they are clever enough to be so devious. We then tend to dismiss the poorly assembled legislation as unintended while they walk away with millions.

They may even get us at each other's throats, so we do not look to closely at the actual outcomes. Interesting. Very interesting.

I don't intend to paint you into any corner. This is the impression your many posts have left on me. Perhaps it was exaggeration to imply you slapped kids around, and perhaps it is a context of a different time and place, but if you came after my kid with a paddle, even if he needed disciplining, I'd come after you personally. I don't want to be a bus driver or maintain order and I don't think it an easy job. I also can understand your feeling left without any tools to enforce consequences. You should have the tools to do your job, and there should be consequences for bullying, vandalism, violence etc, but an adult physically striking another persons child is not ok.

As for the myriad other differences of opinion, I'm not convincing you of anything and I'm not buying your rhetoric.

Hello; Interesting brag. Keep in mind I lived in a SE Kentucky coal mine area at the time. Not exactly soft men. One had a similar image of schoolteachers as you apparently have when we spoke on the phone and did threaten me physically. I scheduled a meeting with him for after school the next day. He showed up. We faced up and had a stare down. He looked to be as tough as i expected a miner to be. Likely he sized me up and figured I was not a soft man as well. I no more wanted to punish his kid than I wanted to fight him, but order had to be maintained. It was up to him. He backed down and we had a long talk about his boy's behavior. Worked out. He understood that it was best for all that he get a handle on the boy's behavior so I did not need to use a paddle.

After all forms of punishment were taken away the schools were in a general chaos. Lots of parents got in my face but not a one ever put a hand on me. Might have been different with you. The telling point in your comment is the bit "even if he needed disciplining". Says plenty. Somehow the other 64 kids on my bus are supposed to put up with your kid's bad behavior.

Well, your sort of parent got your way. No real consequence for bad behavior and the schools are become what they are.

Hello; Fascinating. While correct that legislation is needed to officially change the name, due to an executive order Department of War is currently the proper & correct name to use. Look it up as I have.

Well our department of defense is going to be a different animal this year.

I think by the time this is done, we’re going to see a different situation in Central and South America.

Meanwhile, I never thought these little Bosch drills would hold up very well but I have three of them now, and they are pretty sturdy little beasts.

Here I am drilling out all of the holes to mount the top on my workbench.


I had to go to the hardware store for new screws and bolts so it’s not done. I’m gonna go put the top on right now.
