You think that's bad vis!?

Take yourself a trip to Mt. Storm and then you'll know what bad vis is, where you can't see your shoulder when you look back!

I spend 95% of my dive time inside temp controlled, highly filtered mega-displays. "Low vis" to me usually happens when we are scrubbing something or a filter needs to be backwashed. LOL

Lol, wish I had a tank big enough to dive in. I can only fit my face with a snorkel in my 75 gallon XD

On my way to my biggest dive trip this year! Pictures and videos expected Sunday!

Well, here is the much anticipated dive report I've been rambling about :D. Just got back from none other than the fish infested, amazing visibility Gilboa Quarry in Northwest Ohio! Although vis there is normally 50+ feet it sadly only ranged from 35-40 feet at max vis and some places only 5 feet! Water temperature at the surface was a comfortable (maybe slightly warm, for a coldwater diver like me :) 72 degrees. Average temp underwater was 60 but I went to quite a few spots where it was 48 degrees. My dive buddies even trekked down to the deep end where the water was 39 degrees where they were diving at 120 feet. Good vis or not the fish were plentiful! Saw bluegills, pumpkinseeds, hybrid sunfishes (bluegill X green), LMBs, tons of SMBs, more trout than you can imagine in the colder deeper areas, Rock Bass, Gigantic Koi, Channel Catfish, and even managed to find a 3' Paddlefish! For those unaware, there is a spot in the quarry where schools of trout and SMBs gather to be fed by the divers. I fed them twice this trip and they were just as voracious as last time. The water was 60 there which was to warm for me to where gloves so I skipped them and lets just say I'd rather have warm hands than have an adult Smallmouth clamp on to me :). It was a great trip and I'd highly recommend diving at the quarry to any fellow dive enthusiast, even just snorkeling there is a great experience. PS, hit a milestone of 50 dives on the last dive of the trip :D.

Thanks guys! Yeah the koi were easily 3' long! My dive buddies also found a lake sturgeon pair in there once but that's definitely the most difficult fish in the quarry to find, takes 109 dives to catch a glimpse of one.
