Most cichlids seem to ignore polys.... but every now and then you get some bad combos.
I did had a psycho convict that would tear all the fins off some bristle nosed plecos that shared the tank with it... I know it would not have tolerated a poly at all. I have seen a large jag kept with an ornate. I have a buddy who keeps a tank of amphilophus with some polys and zero issues (Of course a large tank and with all the amps being male they tend to interact with each other rather than polys).
Ive had my pearsei and het with my polys and had zero issues. The big pearsei will on occasion physically move a poly with her mouth but this is usually because the poly is sitting on top a of a pellet of food she wants otherwise no issues. In the tank Ive also had at one time a red bay snook and Regani and had zero issues. But this was in large tanks, a 6ft 210g and now my 8ft 300g.
So you never know exactly what cichlid will work but most seem to ignore polys
