Officially a Bichir keeper now

Yeah I had more in a 75g. That won't be a terrible bioload. 4 of my ropes were 6" thin little noodles when I got them and the bigger polys never bothered them. I still worry but they've been together for almost a year now never even see the polys look weird at them. Ropes are escape artists.....no artist isn't a strong enough word ummm F-tards is better keep EVERYTHING locked down!

Yeah..if I get them I think i'll have to redo the top. Right now I have glass lids on top of egg crate but the back where the glass lids stop is just egg crate. If the ropes are thin enough to fit through the holes then they could easily escape.

yeah i think i may have to do that. I have mangroves growing out the back of my tank though so I'm going to have to be creative

Just went through this with pothos on the 75 gal wolf tank. Will post pics of what I did....duct tape is a must when keeping polys

Well you guys were on to something. Haven't fed the pollys in 2 days and the del was much more active this morning when I checked on him

I added my largest male sajica to the tank as well. He seems to chase the senegal some but doesn't really seem intent on actually catching him. The senegal has acted a bit spastic since I added the sajica in.

Trying to thin out some of my tanks and have been scouring the webs for ropefish. Really interesting creatures. I've seen reports of bichirs eating them though. I measured my del last night and she's 6 inches exactly. How big should the ropefish be would you say?

Most ropes are brought in large. The ones I have seen are 12inches and bigger. All wild caught still. So should be fine to add with ur delhezi.

That's good. So as long as they are like 8 inches or larger they should be good you think?

I see they do well in planted set ups. I have a low light dark tank (black background black substrate). So am thinking plants like anacharis, crypts, water sprite would be good? I am notoriously terrible with plants and kill them easily. I can't even get wisteria to grow in my tanks. So whatever is easy is good. I already have mangroves in though and they are doing well it seems.

My old ropes were good with caves and decor. Never had plants as they ended getting chewed up by my fish. Might be getting some jungle val for my pike tank.

Most ropes coming should be bigger than 8in so shouldn’t worry too much.

Ropes are fine with UJ poly, the ones you need to watch out is if you have a LJ such as endlis.
