but Id say equivalent to red devils in attitude, tenacity and their refusal to quit until no one exists but them.

after watching this thing for an hour, this was quite apparent!

HAHA...man, I cant even express how out of control they are. I think "al-qaeda" is arabic for Neetroplus nematopus. I kept the one because the others were males as well and the biggest was trying to exterminate the smaller 2.

Id eventually like to get a female and have a pair in a 55. They are very cool and interactive fish with great personalities on their own, but Id say equivalent to red devils in attitude, tenacity and their refusal to quit until no one exists but them. My male frequently challenges my 6" male istlanum before getting put in his place.

I have a convict and HRP in my big tank as well, but they will be coming out next time I take everything out of the tank. They just hide or have developed invisibility features. he keeps them in hiding 24/7. That being said, he doesnt do anything more than chase the loaches & catfish until they are out of his way.
Thanks for sharing your experience with Neets. I passed by these guys a few times at my favorite LFS. I will continue to pass on by them for sure. I don't have any split fins in my tank and I would like to keep it that way. Thay make my old Festae look tame.
Ripdevil, I wish you the best with your tank. Welcome back to the hobby!

Its amazing the bad attitude they have huh? Hopefully youll decide to keep him/ her in your 40. They are really cool fish when not terrorizing your main stock!

Sounds like the rest of your tank will be very compatible. I look forward to future updates!

No problem man, just hope I didnt discourage you against ever trying them on their own or as dithers for much larger aggressive guys if you ever do a tank that they will work in. They provide much laughter and enjoyment when placed with fish they cant do damage to.

You guys with good LFSs sure are lucky. Id give most anything to be able to window shop at someplace besides petco & petsmart...and to not pay shipping charges everytime I want to try something new.

If I can provide a pair with their own tank, I would give it a try. I'm not discouraged by your info. I would much rather go in with my eyes wide open than with blinders on. All info is appreciated by me! There is only one bonafide, top-notch LFs near me. It's about 45min away but its worth the gas. They have a vast assortment. In town, I have to cruise the aisles of Petsmart and Petco-Big Difference. It would be nice to have a great LFS in town.

I think a trip up to Shark Aquarium soon is a must, get some more goodies. Planning on adding clown loaches to the tank, no tank is complete without them!

ummm.... where's the pics? :D

not sure I ever said I would be posting pics, but here are some teasers, lol
my pictures suck, I havent invested in much lighting for the tank yet, and the fish are tiny, so hope you enjoy!
